Blackjack ABC's - Part 2

We continue with our article on the essential details of Blackjack. In the preceding article we covered the approach of chemin de fer, taking another card, standing and how to double down. In part 2 we will discuss splitting, surrendering and insurance.

Split: if a player is dealt 2 cards of the same value (two eights for instance) he may break them up to make two different hands. If you decide to divide your hand you will have to make a new wager equivalent to the initial wager.

Surrender: Some betting houses will let individuals to surrender the cards they have been handed along with fifty percent of the original bet they made before the croupier looking at his hand. As a rule it's vital to ask the croupier for clarification on the blackjack table rules or check out the rules area on the online betting house you are betting on.

Insurance: When the dealers exposed card is an Ace individuals have the ability to purchase insurance. You'll lay half of the original wager before the dealer looks at his cards; if the croupier has blackjack you will win the insurance bet but still lose the initial sum. Unfortunately if the croupier does not have chemin de fer the player loses the insurance. It's a risk but one that's absolutely worth it, if used as part of a clever strategy.

Once a competitor has stood or busted by exceeding twenty-one the dealer will show his cards and will go on to deal themselves cards until one of the following elements has happened: if he has achieved seventeen, a croupier will not normally draw another card due to the possibility of going bust, if they have drawn 21 or if they have gone bust.
